The bill, also known as the American Medical Isotopes Production Act of 2011, was introduced by Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Ark.).

Bingaman is chair of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
