December 27, 2011 – In a move to re-engineer the process of translating scientific discoveries into new drugs, diagnostics and devices, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has established the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). The action was made possible by Congress’ approval of a fiscal year 2012 spending bill and the president’s signing of the bill, which includes the establishment of NCATS with a budget of $575 million.

December 27, 2011 — GE Healthcare has partnered with HealthStream in a three-year agreement to offer Centricity University, a new blended learning experience for its Centricity software users in the United States. The new program is a training solution that includes unlimited access to online and classroom-based courses through one subscription service provided through HealthStream.

December 23, 2011 —Agfa HealthCare announced the addition of a meaningful use (MU) dashboard to the IMPAX Business Intelligence solution. The system contributes to demonstrating meaningful use of clinical data through its ability to actively monitor the thresholds outlined in Stage 1. Reports are generated through the IMPAX radiology information system (RIS) solution.
