UT Southwestern Medical Center Kidney Cancer Program investigators have published what is believed to be the first reported successful use of stereotactic body radiation therapy for an often-deadly complication of kidney cancer.


Agfa HealthCare announced that it has entered into a sales and marketing agreement with Hitachi Medical Systems America Inc. Under the agreement, Hitachi will promote Agfa HealthCare's complete portfolio of digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) solutions to its community of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) customers in the United States. Agfa's service and applications organization will provide all support services, giving Hitachi customers access to Agfa's team of specialists.

Calgary Scientific Inc. announced a partnership and distribution agreement with Apollo PACS. Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD enterprise image-viewer will be integrated with the Apollo Enterprise Patient Multimedia Manager (Apollo EPMM) to extend Web and mobile image access. The integration will help physicians make more informed decisions by enabling quick and secure access to medical images using desktop, Web or mobile devices.

Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is quickly establishing itself as an essential tool in the interventional cardiologist’s daily toolbox. An alternative to the more traditional transthoracic echo, TEE provides higher quality images due to the esophagus’ location directly behind the heart. With the introduction of 3-D/4-D TEE, the technology has become a primary imaging modality to guide new, complex transcatheter structural heart procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve repair (TAVR), MitraClip, transcatheter mitral valve replacements (TMVR), left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusions, and septal defect closures.
