Mobile 1.5T system brings high-quality diagnostic imaging to offsite locations

Mobile 1.5T system brings high-quality diagnostic imaging to offsite locations

September 28, 2023 — Siemens Healthineers has announced the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance of the Magnetom Viato.Mobile, a new 1.5 Tesla (1.5T) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging scanner optimized for mobile use to provide greater flexibility in deploying MR imaging. Designed to be installed in a trailer for easy transportation to offsite locations, the 70 centimeter-bore scanner brings advanced medical imaging to patients, often with serious health conditions, who would otherwise need to travel long distances. The Magnetom Viato.Mobile can also remain at a site for long-term use, providing an additional MR scanner to hospitals and other healthcare facilities that lack the space or budget to construct a shielded room for a fixed-magnet system.

“The Magnetom Viato.Mobile demonstrates our dedication to the mobile MR market by offering the latest and greatest technologies to patients who might lack convenient access to premium diagnostic MR scanners,” said Jane Kilkenny, vice president of magnetic resonance at Siemens Healthineers North America. “The introduction of the Magnetom Viato.Mobile is yet another example of our efforts to democratize high-end imaging technology to provide greater access to care.”

The Magnetom Viato.Mobile is distinguished by high-end technologies that have migrated from fixed Siemens Healthineers MR scanners. BioMatrix Technologyenables the user to compensate for different patient physiologies and anatomies to personalize MR exams and avoid variations in imaging results. Deep Resolve image reconstruction is powered by artificial intelligence, not only to improve image resolution and signal-to-noise ratio but also to dramatically accelerate scanning times, including some brain scans by as much as 70%. With these capabilities, Deep Resolve can boost user workflow efficiency and enhance the patient experience. The scanner’s myExam Companion features provide radiologic technologists with tiered levels of assistance to guide them through the exam regardless of their experience level and help them achieve consistent, high-quality images.

A comprehensive portfolio of high-performance MR coils deliver patient comfort, fast and easy workflows, and a high degree of image quality. The coil portfolio includes the BioMatrix Head/Neck 20 coil, which is tiltable for every patient; the BioMatrix Body 18 body coil with Beat Sensor, which increases imaging flexibility and enables full cardiovascular MR exams without electrocardiogram triggering; and the UltraFlex Small & Large 18 flexible multi-purpose coils for rapid-acquisition, high-resolution imaging.
