RSNA Session Discusses Key Benefits Offered by New Generation of Modular Imaging, Healthcare IT Systems

Carestream Scientists and Researchers from Leading Medical Schools also Presenting Scientific Papers Involving Innovative Advances in Medical Imaging

October 28, 2013 — Medical imaging and healthcare IT experts from Carestream will host an interactive discussion entitled, “How to Future-Proof Your X-ray and Health IT Purchases with Modular Systems” at 3:45-4:40 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, at the RSNA Exhibitor Product Theater, held as part of the annual meeting and exhibit of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

Carestream’s Cristine Kao, Global Healthcare IT Product Marketing Director, and Helen Titus, Global X-ray Product Marketing Director, will lead the session and will showcase healthcare providers that are already using modular systems. These systems represent next-generation technology that helps avoid major platform upgrades, which are often time consuming and expensive.

This session may be useful for RSNA attendees looking to gain objective insight on migrating from outdated X-ray and IT systems to powerful modular platforms that easily expand to offer new capabilities and services. Ample opportunity for audience participation will be a featured part of this session.

Also during RSNA, Carestream scientists will participate in two presentations that showcase innovative medical imaging research being conducted at prestigious medical schools:

  • Scientists from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Carestream will present, “Use of a Dedicated Extremity Cone-Beam CT Scanner for Evaluation of the Weight-Bearing and Non-Weight-Bearing Knee,” from 10:50-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Room S403A. Results of this study demonstrate that weight-bearing CBCT of the knee can provide functional information and precise morphological analysis in cross sectional imaging that is not achieved by projection radiographs.
  • Scientists from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Carestream will present, “Stationary Chest Tomosynthesis System using Distributed CNT X-ray Source Array,” from 10:50-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Room S404AB. Results of this study demonstrate the feasibility of a stationary chest tomosynthesis system that can help improve image quality and enhance detection of small lung nodules and other chest pathology.

In addition, representatives from Carestream will be available in the RSNA Mobile Connect area (Lakeside Ballroom) on Monday, Dec. 2, at 9 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, to help physicians learn how to achieve the greatest productivity from their mobile devices.

Carestream will demonstrate its latest medical imaging and healthcare IT solutions at Booth #4111 in the South Building as part of the exhibit conducted concurrently with the RSNA annual meeting.
