November 12, 2010 — A new partnership has resulted in a new 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system.

Cerner Corp. partnered with Phi Health, a healthcare company dedicated to bringing the technology sector paradigm to healthcare – the idea that advances in technology bring better performance at a lower cost. The first example of the Cerner and Phi effort is Memex, an innovative, superconducting 1.5T MRI system.

Clients have the option of purchasing a new Memex or Memex “Green.” Memex Green uses the customer’s existing 1.5T magnet core (non-vendor specific) with new Memex subsystems, including coils, electronics, software, bed and covers. Using an existing magnet core rather than a new magnet reduces the carbon footprint of an MRI system by 168 metric tons. Cerner and Phi also integrated Phi’s post-processing cardiac software, called Marisa, with Cerner’s RadNet solution, which enables technologists to complete a typical one-hour cardiac study in as little as 10 minutes.
