August 19, 2010 – The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) this week announced the launch of its new website, at www.intersocietal.org, along with new websites for each of its specialty divisions. These include: • ICAVL for noninvasive vascular testing, www.icavl.org • ICAEL for echocardiography, www.icael.org • ICANL for nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology and PET, www.icanl.org • ICAMRL for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), www.icamrl.org • ICACTL for computed tomography (CT), www.icactl.org • ICACSF for carotid stenting, www.icacsf.org The redesigned sites embody the IAC’s commitment to the growing needs of the participating laboratories and facilities. The sites’ homepages welcome visitors with a new design and moving images with featured content centered on the IAC’s mission to quality healthcare through laboratory accreditation. The new sites offer distinct pathways designed to guide laboratories that are seeking accreditation for the first time, facilities that are currently accredited by an IAC division and laboratories ready to apply for re-accreditation. There are Quick links for auxiliary audiences such as administrators, payers and patients, direct access to the online accreditation application and numerous helpful resources, including sample documents and access to on demand webcasts. They also include summaries and direct links to both the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and private payer policies requiring accreditation as a condition for reimbursement. The new sites have new sections for patient information, details for maintaining compliance and tips for accredited facilities to promote their accreditation status. About the IAC To date, the IAC accrediting bodies, with 20 years of experience in developing and maintaining intersocietal, multispecialty accreditation programs, have granted more than 10,000 sites throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The accreditation granted by the IAC signifies that a laboratory has been reviewed by an independent agency and that the applicant facility was found to be in substantial compliance with objective standards of quality. The IAC is a nonprofit organization with six divisions, each offering a comprehensive, peer-review accreditation program for its respective modality.
