Therapeutic oncology company RefleXion Medical announced it will showcase the RefleXion X1 Machine at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) 2019 annual meeting, Sept. 15-18 in Chicago. The company says its biology-guided radiotherapy (BgRT) platform is the first and only technology that unlocks the biological signature of each tumor to characterize its movement and direct highly conformal treatment to the tumor.

GE Healthcare announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) 510(k) clearance of Critical Care Suite, a collection of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms embedded on a mobile X-ray device. Built in collaboration with UC San Francisco (UCSF) using GE Healthcare’s Edison platform, the AI algorithms help to reduce the turn-around time it can take for radiologists to review a suspected pneumothorax, a type of collapsed lung.

ViewRay Inc. announced that the company's MRIdian and MRIdian Linac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided radiation therapy systems will be featured at the 2019 annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Sept. 15-19 in Chicago. The meeting will feature a number of presentations highlighting the capabilities, clinical experience and patient outcomes with ViewRay's MRIdian and MRIdian Linac.

Richardson Healthcare, a Division of Richardson Electronics Ltd., announced it has received CE Mark approval for the ALTA750 X-ray computed tomography (CT) tube. The ALTA750 is a form, fit and function replacement for the Canon/Toshiba CXB-750D/4A.

RadCalc version 7.1 with the Monte Carlo 3-D module has been released for beta testing to members of the beta testing team. The Monte Carlo 3D module utilizes technology acquired from the McGill University inventors. This release of RadCalc 3Dmc is the second of three 3D Dose Volume second check quality assurance (QA) packages. The completion of the beta test is anticipated in four weeks. An announcement of the final release date will be provided when available for purchase.

Bayer announced the introduction of the Medrad Stellant Flex computed tomography (CT) injection system. Stellant Flex offers the latest CT injection technology from Bayer with a user-driven design, minimal required technologist training, and automation that drives individualized patient protocols and personalized imaging. The system also comes with flexible options for capital equipment through the TechCare program.
