ProtocolWatch is an application available on Philips’ IntelliVue patient monitors that applies patient monitoring data to evidence-based care protocols. A new development in clinical decision support at the bedside, ProtocolWatch delivers customer-specific care protocols on the patient monitor screen, responsively using monitoring measurements to offer relevant screening and treatment information from evidence-based care guidelines.

Clinician Notifier is a uniquely designed remote notifer with new features that enhance nursing workflow. In a few seconds at the beginning of each shift, a nurse uses a Clinician Notifier PDA to self-assign the patients for which she has primary responsibility. Then, throughout her shift, she receives alarms from her assigned patients and is able to determine the nature of the alarm and current patient status by viewing real-time patient data and waveforms. She also has the ability to access real-time waveform data and review historical events for any patient on the unit at any time.

A 15-inch high-resolution color LCD, the DYNASCOPE 7000 Series DS-7300 bedside monitor is capable of monitoring 12-lead ECG, IBP, NIBP, CO, temp, resp, SpO2, pulse and EtCO2.

Other features include multirole amplifiers for BP/TEMP/CO, flexible system layout and user-defined touch key, 12-lead ECG display with three other waveforms and a three-channel built-in recorder (HS-720/HS-720E).

Cerner’s "Smart Room" is powered by the CareAware architecture - the integration of multiple devices with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Smart Room is the next generation of "Smart Care," where the patient is the central focus. The Smart Room is the intersection of a variety of innovative technologies, including radio frequency identification (RFID), patient beds, medical bedside device, patient communication, information and entertainment.

The FORE-SIGHT Absolute Cerebral Oximeter has been expanded to include children over 40kg and infants.

The initial market focus is on high-risk cardiovascular surgeries, of which there are about 700,000 performed each year in the U.S. Additional market opportunities include a broad range of general surgical procedures and postoperative and critical care settings.

The NICO2 Respiratory Profile Monitor, part of the AluRT Advanced Lung Recruitment Tool, is designed to monitor the patient rather than the machine side of the breathing circuit, going beyond conventional capnography to measure breath-by-breath volumetric CO2 — taking the guesswork out of ventilation management.

Bear Cub 750psv Infant Ventilator is designed to accommodate a range of patients from the small neonate to the 30-kg pediatric patient. The 750psv incorporates Integrated Synchronized Ventilation, Tidal Volume Monitoring and Independent Base & Inspiratory Flows for clinical flexibility in a compact design. Volume Limit provides the clinician with an additional guidance tool during pressure ventilation as it enhances volume management and establishes an upper boundary for deliverable tidal volumes during mechanical breaths.

Vital Signs Inc.’s Swedish sister company, Breas Medical AB, has received FDA clearance to market a new continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device, the iSleep 20i.
