Moving from film to digital has dramatically improved efficiencies in imaging organizations. Now organizations are blending their RIS, PACS and clinical algorithms to further improve workflow and operations. This improvement creates new opportunities for radiologists and the business environments in which they work, but it also creates several challenges.

Radiologists and CIOs debated this topic at an EHR Panel titled “How EHR Will Increase Your Revenue in a PACS Environment,” which was organized by Imaging Technology News (ITN) magazine, sponsored by Emageon and held as a pre-registration session at the PACS 2007 conference.

May 10, 2007 - The U.S. Senate approved legislation on Wednesday to give the government new powers to police side effects of prescription drugs.

The measure responds to the 2004 withdrawal of the arthritis pill
Vioxx and complaints that regulators did not respond quickly to early signs of heart problems with the Merck & Co Inc. drug.

The bill is meant to strengthen FDA oversight after a drug is approved. The measure also extends industry fees that help pay for product reviews.

May 10, 2007 - Agfa HealthCare and InterComponentWare AG (ICW) announced today that the companies are beginning a non-exclusive agreement for the development of seamless integration and interoperability between Agfa HealthCare's Hospital Information System (HIS) ORBIS(TM) and ICW's eHealth Framework.
