July 19, 2007 - Gammex Inc. recently introduced its new addition to the high quality ultrasound scanners testing tools, the Gammex 1430GS LE Phantom, designed to provide sonographers with advanced design features that allow for both Doppler and B-mode ultrasound system tests in one unit.

This self-contained system provides a broad range of stable and pulse flow rates and test objects. The enhanced microprocessor-based flow controller meter produces accurate flow rates from 1 to 10 ml/sec corresponding to 0 to 150 cm/sec measurable velocities with a 1 percent FS accuracy.

July 19, 2007 - AMICAS Inc. announced that 14 new contracts were signed in the second quarter of 2007, comprising of a variety of hospitals, imaging centers, teleradiology businesses and radiology groups.

The new hospital contracts include 4 hospitals with a MEDITECH hospital information system and six of the new ambulatory contracts include multiple AMICAS product lines.

July 19, 2007 - Advanced visualization software developer Mercury Computer Systems has introduced three new 3-D offerings, OpenRTRT, DirectViz and Patchwork 3D, all designed to improve workflow and ease use of multidimensional imaging data.

Designed for existing 3-D application developers, OpenRTRT is a software development kit that provides real-time ray-tracing capabilities, according to the Chelmsford, MA-based firm. Another new product, DirectViz, is an extension to version 6 of Mercury's Open Inventor 3-D graphics software suite.

NOMOS Radiation Oncology, a Division of North American Scientific, will introduce the recently FDA-cleared BATCAM Multi-probe, its new IGRT solution. The system integrates a new multiprobe-capable ultrasound system into the company's core IGRT product, BATCAM.

The concept of IGRT, pioneered by Elekta, and the creation of Elekta Synergy, was driven by the need to visualize internal structures, including soft tissues, in three dimensions within the reference frame of the treatment system and at the time of treatment.

TomoTherapy Inc. will introduce the StatRT software package for its Hi-Art treatment system to facilitate optimal treatment of time-critical cancer cases. StatRT allows the full radiation therapy process — CT scanning, treatment planning—to be completed in as little as 30 minutes. The software is designed to enhance the quality of care for time-critical cancer cases.
