November 1, 2007 - Barco displayed its new 3D reconstruction system, utilizing Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) technology to reportedly improve the speed and accuracy of CT image acquisition, at ASTRO 2007.

The 3D reconstruction product, named TDRS-7101, utilizes the computing power of Barco’s MXRT-7100 graphics board to deliver real-time reconstructions of raw CT images with high image quality. In doing so, it reportedly improves the performance of cone-beam CT acquisition systems used for dental imaging, radiation oncology and intra-operative imaging.

November 1, 2007 – BrainLAB announced during ASTRO 2007 that its iPlan RT treatment planning software is helping the University of Nebraska Medical Center to save more than 83 percent in planning time, while reportedly achieving greater consistency in radiotherapy treatments for prostate cancer.

November 1, 2007 - Vision RT launched its recently FDA-cleared GateCT that tracks the 3D surface of a patient in order to facilitate 4DCT data acquisition or prospective gated CT image data.

System features include automatic detection of abnormal breathing, low tracking latency, automatic detection of patient movement and more.

November 1, 2007– Accuray Inc. introduced at ASTRO 2007 the Sequential Optimization feature, an optimization capability that will now be available as a software option for the MultiPlan Treatment Planning System, reportedly allowing users to optimize their treatment objectives based on each unique clinical situation using prioritized clinical objectives, instead of the traditional trial and error setting of various constraints to narrow in on an optimized treatment.

November 1, 2007 - Siemens showcased CTVision, an upgraded version of the PRIMATOM that reportedly brings powerful, high-contrast image-guidance to radiation treatment delivery by integrating a linear accelerator and a CT that travels along rails, at ASTRO, Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2007.

November 1, 2007 - Philips brought to ASTRO 2007 its Brilliance CT Big Bore system designed specifically for radiation oncology and provides image quality, accuracy and workflow efficiency, while facilitating shorter exam times for patients.

October 31, 2007 - GE Healthcare brought to ASTRO 2007 its next-generation volume PET/CT application PET VCAR that reportedly complements GE’s approach to personal patient management and the need to assess each patient individually.

November 1, 2007 - NightHawk Radiology Holdings Inc. today announced financial results for its third quarter, with a revenue growth of 79 percent year-over-year to a record $45.2 million in the third quarter of 2007 from $25.2 million in the third quarter of 2006.

November 1, 2007 - TeraRecon, a provider of advanced visualization solutions, received the Frost & Sullivan 2007 Market Penetration Leadership Award for “delivering tremendous financial performance and gaining market share year after year,” said the announcement from Frost and Sullivan (F&S).
