December 28, 2007 - Sutter Solano Medical Center (SSMC) was recently named a 2007 Press Ganey Compass Award Winner for its Emergency Department's overall improvements in patient satisfaction scores, compared to all other facilities being measured.

December 28, 2007 - AspenBio Pharma Inc. has outlined plans in 2008 for submitting its final data package to the FDA for market approval of AppyScore, the first blood-based screen/triage test for human appendicitis.

Following its official pre-IDE response from FDA in November, AspenBio plans to complete the final data package for a 510(k) submission by mid to late 2008. FDA regulations require the FDA to complete the 510(k) review within 90 days of submission.

This change is in response to The Joint Commission 2006 Sentinel Event Alert regarding tubing misconnections and the potential for errors. The new white stripe reportedly allows the clinician to identify the tubing in the AbViser IAP Monitoring kit, reducing chances of a mishap. Tubing misconnections have become a failure mode for hospital mishaps causing injury to patients.
