April 3, 2008 - Philips announced the launch of its new USB Smart Key, a tool that allows dictation software licenses to be uploaded to reportedly any computer to replace dongles and offer more flexibility.

With this tool, Philips replaces current dongles and older security codes that had to be manually typed in. The USB Smart Key is now packaged with Philips SpeechExec Pro Dictate and Philips SpeechExec Pro Transcribe, as well as Transcribe software packages.

April 3, 2008 – New medical equipment company Medifico Inc. this week launched the Brainvue-TCD 1000, which uses ultrasound to measure blood flow in the brain to aid in the diagnosis, prevention, intervention, and treatment of strokes, migraines, concussions, sickle cell disease and detection of PFOs (holes between the chambers of the heart).

The device is a portable, hand-held, battery-operated unit. The company said it can also be used for soldiers in battle, as well as athletes prone to head injuries.
