July 21, 2008 - Pittsburgh-based Foundation Radiology Group (FRG) said today it has signed a contract with R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital, Stuart, VA, through which FRG will become their exclusive provider of diagnostic imaging services effective Aug. 1, 2008.

R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access and 25-bed skilled nursing facility.

July 21, 2008 - Quantum Medical Imaging has completed an installation of its Single-panel Q-Rad-Digital Tomography System, which included Canon CXDI-50C digital panel, at the Covenant HealthCare Mackinaw Outpatient Facility in Saginaw, MI.

The Q-Rad-Digital Ceiling-Mounted Tomography system uses a Ceiling Mounted Tube Stand reportedly provides complete flexibility and virtually unlimited imaging procedures. The Servo-Driven Tomography allows quick and simple Tomography set up from routine imaging, said the company.

July 21, 2008 – iCAD Inc. completed a deal to purchase the principal assets of CAD Sciences, a privately held medical technology company based in White Plains, NY, for $5 million as part of iCAD’s strategy to broaden its market reach.

The purchase price was $5 million, comprised of $2 million in cash and 1,086,957 shares of iCAD common stock. The number of shares issued was calculated using the average closing price for the 10 consecutive trading days immediately preceding the closing.

July 20, 2008 - Siemens Healthcare highlighted its smallest ultrasound solution, the ACUSON P10 ultrasound system, designed for fast and accurate screening and triage decisions at the point of care, at the Firehouse Expo 2008, a conference for fire and emergency professionals, to be held in Baltimore, July 22-24.

The ACUSON P10 handheld diagnostic ultrasound system is a little larger than a common PDA, weighs only 1.6 pounds, and fits into the emergency bag of emergency personnel.

July 20, 2008 - Patients with a rare type of breast cancer may benefit from receiving radiation therapy in addition to surgery to prevent recurrence, according to a study in the July issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, the official journal of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
