July 28, 2008 - Orfit Industries America's Efficast thermoplastic mask, part of the Raycast High-precision Patient Immobilization/Positioning System, which applies a new technology for head, neck and shoulder immobilization systems used in radiation therapy, is on display at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Exhibition from July 27-31.

The system is said to allow for less than 2 mm of movement by the patient. Orfit is also offering a hands-on demonstration of the system for the duration of the show at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

July 25, 2008— The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) said iMedica Corp. is CCHIT Certified for its product, iMedica PRM 2008 version 8.1, and meets the Commission's ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) criteria for 2007.

Ambulatory EHRs are designed for physician offices and clinics where most Americans get their healthcare.

As a CCHIT Certified product, the iMedica PRM 2008 has been tested and passed inspection of 100 percent of a set of criteria for functionality, interoperability and security.

We don’t want to underestimate the impact that the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) has had on outpatient and imaging centers, but the bigger story is that the DRA is just one component in an ongoing campaign by Medicare and other payers to try to control the burgeoning growth of imaging services. What is most notable is how other players in the imaging value chain are profiting from these imposed constraints.
