June 29, 2010 – A newly formed committee of experts has begun to tackle the issue of reducing radiation in computed tomography (CT). The panel was launched by Siemens Healthcare as a part of the Siemens Radiation Reduction Alliance (SIERRA).

June 29, 2010 – Researchers were able to use 21st-century technology to learn more about a mummy from the 18th century last week using a noninvasive computerized tomography (CT) scan. The scan, which was completed at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center, will help determine the mummy’s state of preservation and any disease or injury he may have had.

Agfa’s CR 30-X single plate CR digitizer is the number one ranked CR product, according to KLAS, a research firm specializing in monitoring and reporting the performance of health care vendors.

June 28, 2010 – A new 3-D imaging technique promises to give physicians a clearer picture of bone changes during osteoporosis treatment. Using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HRpQCT), researchers were able to look inside the bone at the specific bone structure and quality.

June 28, 2010 – A new 3-D imaging technology is now available in the U.S. The C-InSight from Mazor Surgical Technologies Ltd. will enable medical facilities to incorporate 3-D imaging capabilities into their existing 2-D C-arms, the standard X-ray device used in operating rooms.
