October 26, 2010 – At RSNA 2010, Agfa HealthCare will showcase its latest solutions in digital radiography (DR). At the heart of all the company’s digital solutions is the Musica2 imaging software and NX station. Musica2 is exam-independent and analyzes the characteristics of each image and optimizes processing parameters, independent of user input and dose settings.

The DX-D 10C (work in progress) is a portable detector with needle crystals by Agfa HealthCare. The small size allows it to fit into an existing analog bucky. System integrators can therefore use the detector to transform analog X-ray units into digital with the company’s DX-D Integrator packages.

The DX-D 400, by Agfa HealthCare, is a DR X-ray solution (work in progress). Different configurations are possible from the basic analog with hard console, over manual digital with soft console, up to fully automatic digital with auto-positioning and soft console. It can be used with film, CR cassettes or with the company’s DR detectors, offering a smooth upgrade path to digital.

The DX-D 100 mobile, fully motorized DR X-ray unit (work in progress) from Agfa HealthCare. This heavy-duty mobile DR solution complements Agfa HealthCare's range of DR solutions. Several portable DR detectors, such as the DX-D 20, can be used with this unit. It is operated from a 15-inch touch screen and has excellent battery autonomy and generator power, to handle heavy workloads when needed.

The DX-M, by Agfa HealthCare, is a CR solution that can handle mammography, needle-based detector plates (NIP), and standard phosphor plates (PIP). The dedicated mammography needle-based detector is compatible with existing breast imaging modalities, providing cost efficiency.

October 26, 2010 - Agfa Healthcare has acquired Insight Agents GmbH in Germany, allowing the company to expand its current offering of contrast media consumables. Insight Agents is a European developer, producer and distributor of generic imaging contrast agents. It products are not available in the United States.

Computed tomography (CT) technologies designed to reduce the radiation dose will be showcased by Siemens at RSNA 2010. The company has developed several significant products and protocols that follow the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle to reduce radiation dose to the lowest possible level.

Aquasonic 100 is a widely used gel for diagnostic and therapeutic medical ultrasound. It is suitable for all procedures where a viscous gel is required. It is acoustically correct for a broad range of frequencies, is completely aqueous and will not stain clothing or damage transducers.

Oncad for DynaCAD is an FDA-cleared, fully automated morphological system for the detection and analysis by a radiologist of suspicious breast lesions. It uses a patented mathematical algorithm to analyze the entire breast and draw a physician’s attention to abnormal morphology during a contrast-enhanced breast MRI.
