Siemens Finds Alternative Approach to IGRT

October 26, 2007 - Siemens Medical Solutions will exhibit an alternative approach to IGRT, the MVision Megavoltage Cone Beam Imaging Package that is reportedly a powerful, unique volumetric in-line target imaging solution that employs the existing treatment beam to provide 3D target imaging, at ASTRO, Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2007.

MVision fully integrates and automates all processes, including acquisition, reconstruction, registration, assessment, patient positioning and clinical review, according to the company. Therapists can calculate 3D offsets, send them to the treatment couch to compensate for daily variations and safely deliver therapy.

The solution does not require an independent imaging source for IGRT, thus maximizing clinical accessibility and patient comfort. This innovation also frees caregivers from performing unnecessary electromechanical maintenance, so they can focus on patient care.
