New Brain Mapping Solution Treats Parkinson's Disease

April 17, 2007 - Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Integra Radionics, released an upgrade for the NeuroSight Arc module of the OmniSight EXcel image-guided system, which maps the trajectories and targets used for treatment of functional neurological disorders, including Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders.

The software contains digital brain maps that are overlaid with patient scans to guide the neurosurgical procedures. The new version improves this alignment with more patient-specific adjustments. It is also designed to enhance the resolution of the CT and MRI scans used for targeting, increase compatibility with the Integra Radionics industry CRW stereotactic system and additional features in the GUI reportedly facilitate planning.
