Philips has released Model Based Segmentation (MBS) software for IGRT workflow enhancement. The software will be an upgrade on the Pinnacle3 Radiation Therapy Planning system.
The MBS software will improve on the current offering of AcQSim3 simulation, Syntegra image fusion and P3IMRT modules. These combined solutions offer an oncology toolbox capable of sculpting radiation doses for tumors, while the MBS software offers advancement in reducing the amount of time it takes to contour tumors and anatomical structures. This could be a step toward quickly adapting patients’ treatment plans based on responses to daily treatment.
MBS includes an anatomical library of 3-D patient organ structure models and allows users to drag and drop the models onto patient image data. The software then automatically adapts to each patient’s anatomy.
