CIVCO Needle Guides Offer Accuracy for Prostate Biopsies

June 25, 2009 - CIVCO Medical Solutions introduced a new disposable needle guide for use with Aloka’s UST-677P prostate transducer. The multi-frequency (3-7.5 MHz) array transducer is currently available on the SSD-3500sx ultrasound platform.

The needle guide is engineered to provide imaging professionals with a fixed path of guidance and a standard of increased accuracy in prostate biopsy sampling. Guiding instruments according to on-screen guidelines, the use of a needle guide aids in improved procedural efficiencies, leading to better patient care.

Packaged in convenient procedure kits, CIVCO’s easy-to-use, single-piece needle guide snaps securely to the transducer locating features and will not compromise cover integrity during set-up. The over-molded design of the needle guide features zero needle resistance, offering smooth movement and navigation during puncture procedures.
Increasing patient and physician safety, the disposable design of the guide reduces the risks associated with cross-contamination and also aids in easy clean-up between procedures. CIVCO’s needle guide features a large funnel for instrument insertion and accepts 16-18 gauge instruments.
