Agfa Introduces New CVIS Platform at ACC 2012

Impax CV12 combines enhanced features, improved infrastructure, modular deployment model

March 27, 2012 – Agfa HealthCare's new modular version of its cardiovascular information system (CVIS), Impax CV12, was unveiled at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Annual Scientific Session this week in Chicago.

The system is designed with a modular approach, along with a focus on helping organizations meet regulatory and standards requirements. This is the first Agfa cardiovascular product to employ the modular structure, enabling users to take advantage of new product developments as they are released without the need of upgrading their entire system. Beginning with version 12.0 and continuing through future product releases, Impax CV12 establishes a framework to provide users with the robust functionality needed. With the first release, users can benefit from a new patient management module that includes enhanced search capability, an improved graphical user interface (GUI) and a patient worklist designed for improved cardiologist workflow.

Agfa designed Impax CV12 to provide support for SNOMED-CT, and subsequently other standard terminologies, to help facilitate regulatory reporting compliance by customers.

At the core of the platform is a robust infrastructure that, along with support for Oracle 11g and Microsoft Windows Server 2008r2 software, makes it easier to upgrade and able to be rolled out remotely. This streamlines the process for upgrades and serviceability, saving facilities time and resources.

The product can also be virtualized to reduce the hardware footprint so organizations can achieve a lower total cost of ownership. Finally, facilities can depend on the security of the system, which meets the rigorous Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements.

The platform supports Agfa HealthCare’s Imaging Clinical Information System (ICIS) platform to bring images into the electronic health record (EHR). Whether a facility elects to have integrated cardiovascular DICOM archiving and viewing at the departmental level or on the enterprise level, Impax Cardiovascular can meet the need. A vendor-neutral CVI, will feed into the vendor-neutral ICIS repository, eliminating the need to manage images and data at the departmental level, while also allowing for improved delivery of care by providing access to the comprehensive longitudinal patient imaging record. With the ICIS services platform, images and associated data are available to clinicians, at virtually any location, in a meaningful and clinically useful way.
