Dec. 11, 2024 – A recently released study has introduced a novel approach to enhance the treatment of large sacral chordomas using carbon ion therapy. The study focuses on optimizing dose-averaged linear energy transfer (LETd), a critical parameter in radiotherapy that directly influences treatment efficacy for challenging tumors. The findings, published in Medical Physics, could significantly impact clinical outcomes for patients with these aggressive and resistant cancers.

Dec. 2, 2024 — GE HealthCare has agreed to acquire full ownership of Nihon Medi-Physics Co., Ltd (NMP), by purchasing from Sumitomo Chemical the 50% stake it does not already own. As part of GE HealthCare, NMP can build on its expertise developing and manufacturing proprietary and in-licensed radiopharmaceuticals used in single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) molecular imaging procedures to detect and diagnose disease. Sumitomo and GE HealthCare expect the agreement to close in early 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.

Dec. 1, 2024 – At RSNA 2024, Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas, Inc. announced several new digital radiography (DR) solutions designed to help streamline radiology workflows and efficiently manage imaging department assets and resources. Konica Minolta is introducing Bone Suppression Imaging (BSI) for chest X-rays. The recently FDA-cleared BSI suppresses the ribs and the clavicle to enable clearer visualization of the lung, enhancing diagnostic clarity and efficiency. BSI will be available as a stand-alone solution with Konica Minolta DR systems and Exa PACS.
