A major update was made to the International Nuclear Workers Study (INWORKS), an international epidemiological study of workers in the nuclear sector to assess their risks of cancer and non-cancerous diseases.  

Oct. 3, 2024 — GE HealthCare’s MIM Software has announced it received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to perform absorbed dose calculation of radionuclides using a Monte Carlo method. With this clearance, Monte Carlo dosimetry via the Dose Planning Method (DPM) will be available for use with MIM SurePlan MRT, MIM Software’s comprehensive solution for automating and standardizing dosimetry in Theranostics.  

Sept. 30, 2024 – A recent study accepted by the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) for their annual meeting in Washington D.C. demonstrates a significant reduction in radiation Planning Target Volume involving patients who received Breast Conserving Surgery (lumpectomy), a VeraForm marker for cavity delineation and Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI) along with Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) for motion management.

Sept. 3, 2024 — Researchers evaluating the performance of ChatGPT-4 Vision found that the model performed well on text-based radiology exam questions but struggled to answer image-related questions accurately. The study’s results were published in Radiology, a journal of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
