Intelerad Medical Systems Inc. has announced the release of InteleViewer Workstation, a DICOM workstation software product for diagnostic reading.
The workstation reportedly allows the user to DICOM query/retrieve from multiple sources: PACS, modalities or other DICOM devices. The workstation also allows images to be imported from CD for viewing or sending to another DICOM device.

The Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion provides a radiosurgical platform for refinement and expansion of procedures in the brain, cervical spine and head and neck regions.
The new introduction from Elekta is unlike its predecessors as the Leksell allows for increased treatable volume and is estimated to increase the number of patients that benefit from gamma knife surgery by up to 40 percent.

R2’s Version 2.1 ImageChecker CT Lung CAD System for tracking lung nodule growth between current and prior multislice CT exams can now be sent to a PACS workstation for full enterprise accessibility without the need for R2’s dedicated CT CAD workstation. According to the manufacturer, with the new V2.1 software, R2’s Pulmonary Artery Patency Exam (PE) tool features a new algorithm to aide physicians in more effectively detecting intravascular filling defects, such as pulmonary embolism, during review of multislice CT exams.

TriPath Imaging Inc. and Ventana Medical Systems Inc. have announced that TriPath Imaging has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the Ventana Image Analysis System (VIAS) when used with tissues stained for p53. p53 is a tumor suppressor biomarker which is employed by pathologists as an adjunct to histopathology and is used to assist with diagnosis and the prognostic assessment of cancer.

GE Healthcare has introduced a new ultrasound system, LOGIQ P5, as it extends its next-generation portable line of compact technology with high performance and 4-D imaging.
The LOGIQ P5 provides high definition speckle resolution, CrossXBeam imaging and 4-D imaging. The portable system, which is currently being showcased at the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) Annual Conference, is half the weight and size of most console-based systems and is designed for radiology departments, private practices and specialized clinics.
