Feb. 14, 2007 — Rcadia Medical Imaging, Ltd., an Israel-based developer of novel computer-aided diagnostic software, has received FDA clearance to market its COR Analyzer I, which assists screening of triage patients for coronary artery disease.

In a recent pilot study, Rcadia COR Analyzer I and COR Analyzer II packages successfully identified coronary artery disease in 100 percent of patients and 99 percent of the analyzed blood vessels.

FEBRUARY 9, 2007 - A survey conducted by Directive Analytics for Siemens Medical Solutions indicates that nearly 72 percent of consumers would opt for a test that identifies diseases 20 years before symptoms appear. The survey also found that 35 percent want to know if they would be diagnosed with an incurable disease during their lifetime.

The survey consisted of a national online poll of 1,111 adults and was conducted to assess consumer attitudes toward growing scientific capabilities to predict diseases and disease onset.

February 9, 2007 - Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Integra Radionics, released its latest image registration software, ImageFusion 3, a new addition to its image fusion solutions that registers positron emission tomography (PET) images.

Feb. 8, 2007 - Nearly 95 percent of patients admitted to hospital intensive care units are affected by anemia. Consequently, these patients receive a large number of red blood cell (RBC) transfusions in order to restore proper hemoglobin levels.

New research shows that alternative treatments may lead to fewer transfusions, conserving critical blood supplies in hospitals. The report is published in Seminars in Dialysis.

Feb. 8, 2007 - U.S. medical researchers say human skin -- the largest organ in the body -- is a kind of zoo, and some of the inhabitants are quite novel.

Scientists at New York University School of Medicine took swabs from the forearms of six healthy individuals to study the bacterial populations in human skin. They found evidence of 182 species of bacteria, 8 percent of which were unidentified species that had never before been described.
