The theme of SNM’s 54th Annual Meeting to be held on June 2–6 in Washington, D.C., this year is “SNM: Advances in Personalized Medicine.” As part of the conference’s goal of presenting recent improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening cancer, heart disease and brain disorders, it has initiated a new program, InfoSNM, to leverage IT for more effective use of data in the research, educational and clinical setting.

April 26, 2007 — Northwest Center for Congenital Heart Disease has announced the establishment of an imaging network to improve cardiac services provided to patients throughout the Inland Northwest. The new network enables the transmission of an echocardiogram, a moving ultrasound image of the heart, through a secure Internet site from a hospital to an office/home computer.

April 24, 2007 – Teramedica and Aurora Health Care announced that TeraMedica’s Evercore - Clinical Information Manager will be implemented in order to integrate Aurora’s medical images and distribute them to health care providers in a lightweight format within the Cerner Power Chart Module of Aurora’s Electronic Health Record (EHR). April 25. 2007 - Siemens Medical Solutions has expanded its molecular imaging research collaboration with The University of Texas M. D. In a study conducted at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center researchers found that electromagnetic (EM) breast imaging increased in image contrast when comparing abnormal (benign and malignant) and normal breast tissue.

The Axxent uses a miniaturized X-ray source that can reportedly deliver localized and targeted radiation treatment in virtually any clinical setting under the supervision of a radiation oncologist.
