April 19, 2007 - Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc. unveiled the addition of high-definition (HD) technology to its Image 1 products, which combines the highest resolution available (1080p) with a widescreen view of endoscopic images, at SAGES 2007 annual meeting.


“I think quantification is the next big breakthrough in imaging technology,” said the 2006 – 2007 SNM President Martin P. Sandler, M.D., of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, in an interview with Imaging Technology News (ITN) on the future of nuclear medicine.


April 19, 2007 - Merge Healthcare announced the release of Fusion RIS/PACS MX, an imaging informatics solution that reportedly moves beyond the simple interfacing of RIS and PACS applications and is designed to provide new efficiencies by blending RIS and PACS into a single business and clinical application optimized for the radiologist workspace environment.

April 19, 2007 - Amicas Inc. and Technology Partners Inc. announced that Amicas has acquired certain ownership rights to the IMAGINEradiology practice management software platform, which Amicas will combine with its RIS and PACS, extending its portfolio of solutions with a radiology billing solution.

April 18, 2007 - Imaging Diagnostic Systems Inc. recently exhibited its computed tomography laser mammography (CTLM) system, at the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) 8th Postgraduate Course, jointly sponsored by the American College of Radiology, in Hollywood, Florida, April 14-17, 2007.

The CTLM reportedly images through implants and breast imaging tissue easily and lets the breast hang in the machine opening in its natural position. The average scan time lasts about 10-15 minutes.

April 18, 2007 - An imaging workstation solution from Cedara Software Corp., a division of Merge Healthcare, was recently used in a study published in this week's issue of Cancer Research Journal, focusing on a technique called functional diffusion map, which uses magnetic resonance imaging scanning and Cedara's I-Response solution to measure diffusion of water within tumors.

April 18, 2007 - Masimo Corp. filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of up to $150 million in common stock. The Irvine, CA-based medical technology company makes noninvasive patient monitoring products.

The company didn't disclose how many shares will be offered, nor did it provide an estimated price range for the offering.

April 18, 2007 - RxHub LLC announced that its network solutions, which can help make electronic prescribing possible for 160 million Americans, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) has selected RxHub as one of the networks that will assist CCHIT in the validation of electronic prescribing related criteria.
