June 18, 2007 – IBA Molecular has begun delivery of Iodine-124 to PET Centers in Europe. The positron emitter has been on the market in North America since 2004.

According to the company, because of its properties and convenient half-life of 100.3 hours, I-124 is ideal for radiolabeling antibodies and has sparked a growing interest in the medical oncology community in Europe.

The Vreije Universiteit in Amsterdam will serve as I-124’s primary production location in Europe.

June 18, 2007 — Newport Medical Instruments, Inc. recently announced that its newest generation of ventilator, the Newport e360, has added a new Biphasic breath type in its latest software version.

Biphasic Pressure Release Ventilation (BPRV) allows free inhalation and exhalation during a pressure-controlled breath by means of a partially open, actively controlled exhalation valve. The goal of BPRV is to improve patient comfort, reduce the expiratory work of breathing and possibly improve oxygenation when the patient has an intact respiratory drive.
