October 17, 2007 - Positron Corp. introduced its new dedicated-Cardiac PET system, Attrius, at the annual meeting of the American Society of Nuclear cardiology, for which it expects to receive 510k FDA approval in spring of 2008 in time for proposed cardiac PET reimbursement increase on Jan 1, 2008.

October 17, 2007 - Positron Corp. introduced its dedicated Cardiac PET system that is expected to receive 510k FDA approval in spring 2008, at the annual meeting of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, held Sept. 6 to Sept. 9 in San Diego, CA.

Positron intends to be the first company to offer absolute coronary flow reserve calculations developed by K. Lance Gould, M.D. According to the company, Dr. Gould is considered the founder of Cardiac PET combined with the discovery of flow reserve in human studies.

October 17, 2007 – Siemens Medical Solutions today announced that it recently received FDA 510(k) clearance for a 1.5 Tesla (T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system that is reportedly more affordable, allowing providers to upgrade from low-field MRI systems or to add an MRI system for the first time.
The cost of the new 1.5T MAGNETOM Essenza can reportedly be as much as $500,000 less than other 1.5T systems, making it possible for small hospitals and diagnostic imaging centers to offer a new range of imaging services.

October 17, 2007 – CMS has received FDA 510(k) clearance for Monaco, its next-generation IMRT planning platform reportedly featuring innovative biological cost functions, allowing CMS to begin distributing Monaco for clinical use in the U.S.

Monaco includes multicriterial constrained optimization, a powerful leaf sequencer and a robust Monte Carlo dose calculation algorithm. Monaco is fully integrated with CMS's Focal platform, aiming to provide seamless connectivity and integration with Focal's advanced fusion, contouring, simulation and plan review capabilities.

The C5-1 curved array transducer for the iU22 reportedly enables imaging of all patients. The ViewForum for ultrasound is a standalone workstation that provides a comprehensive range of 3D review capabilities.
