January 30, 2008 - Aethlon Medical Inc., a developer of therapeutic devices for infectious disease and advanced blood filtration, and Delcath Systems Inc., a company focused on developing a drug delivery system, today announced a collaboration to jointly research and develop an advanced filtration cartridge for potential use in Delcath Systems' percutaneous hepatic perfusion (PHP) system, a technology designed to isolate and deliver high doses of anti-cancer agents to specific organs or regions of the body, while minimizing the exposure of the drugs to the rest of the body.

January 31, 2008 – Today the new book “Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story” by Sam Carchidi was released, which describes the challenge the NFL player faced recovering from a major spinal injury that left him temporarily paralyzed, and how induced hypothermia may have helped in his quick recovery.

The doctors of the Buffalo Bills tight end started administering cold saline following the injury to help reduce swelling on the spinal cord. He was also kept in a hypothermic state following surgery. The book details the controversial medical procedure used on Everett.

January 30, 2008 - In a study to determine safe dosages of the isotope astatine-211 for treating patients with recurring brain tumors, researchers found that not only was the isotope's potency sufficient to kill residual cancer cells without damaging sensitive healthy brain cells, but the patients experienced longer survival rates.
