As radiology practices shift toward cloud-based platforms and integrate AI-powered tools, will practices become more secure or more exposed to cyberattacks?

That question is explored in a recent white paper from the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM). The authors suggest that third-party cloud and AI solutions may pose the risk of a single point of failure if not actively managed.1

Jan. 8, 2026 — Siemens Healthineers has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for the 70 cm bore Magnetom Flow. platform, a 1.5 tesla (T) platform for magnetic resonance (MR) imaging with a closed helium circuit and no quench pipe, which reduces helium dependency and annual energy consumption.

Jan. 7, 2026 — UltraSight, a provider of AI-guided cardiac imaging workflows, has partnered with Jefferson Health, one of the largest academic health systems in the United States, in a clinical study to advance rapid incorporation of diagnostic-quality FoCUS echocardiogram workflows. The pilot is funded in part by the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) through the Jefferson–Israel 2025 Health Tech Pilot Program, which provides Israeli companies with real-world clinical environments to evaluate new technologies, accelerate validation, and support successful entry into the U.S.

Dec. 31, 2025 – Carestream Health, Inc. has completed the separation of the company into two geographically focused organizations, enhancing the long-term growth potential of each company. As part of the separation, Carestream Health retained all of the company’s U.S. operations and most of the company’s international operations have been organized under Carestream Healthcare International Co. Ltd(previously known as Rayco (Shanghai) Medical Products Company Limited. In addition, Carestream International was acquired by affiliates of Midea Group Co., Ltd. as part of the transaction.

Jan. 6, 2026 — Butterfly Network, a provider of handheld, whole-body ultrasound and intuitive software, has announced plans to release its Beam Steering API for advanced third-party AI application and technology development within the company’s Butterfly Garden and Ultrasound-on-Chip co-development programs. The new API release, expected in the first half of 2026, will open access to core capabilities that were previously reserved for the company’s own app.

Jan. 6, 2026 — DirectMed Imaging, a portfolio company of Frazier Healthcare Partners, has acquired Tri-Imaging Solutions. DirectMed and Tri-Imaging will be combined into a single, integrated provider of aftermarket diagnostic imaging parts, systems, service, technical training and operate under the Tri-Imaging name.

Dec. 18, 2025 —  Brainomix, a provider of AI-powered imaging biomarkers for stroke and lung fibrosis, has announced results from its partnership with Argenica Therapeutics for imaging and clinical data analysis of the Phase II trial evaluating ARG-007, a neuroprotective agent for acute ischemic stroke.
