May 8, 2008 - Carestream Health donated a CR system that enables The Field Museum in Chicago, for the first time, to capture, archive and share digital X-ray images of over one million priceless specimens and artifacts in its Anthropology collection.

The museum is also using a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) from the company for the management, viewing and storage of the growing collection of digital images managed by the museum’s staff.

May 8, 2008 – MEDRAD introduced the Prostate MR Education Program, a new education program to help clinicians perform prostate MR with its eCoil MR Endorectal Coil at the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) 2008 annual meeting.

The program is available for healthcare professionals who image with GE scanners, provides access to experienced researchers with thousands of Prostate MR imaging procedures to their credit.

Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. received FDA clearance for two new CT clinical applications, SURECardio Prospective and Variable Helical Pitch (vHP), designed to improve throughput and enhance workflow, while further reducing contrast and radiation dosage.
The applications are available for new Toshiba Aquilion 32- and 64-slice CT systems.

The new Kodak Directview Classic and Elite CR Systems are designed to perform a wide range of exams using standard Kodak Directview CR cassettes. The new systems include automatic image rendering that reportedly eliminates the need for technologists to identify each exam projection and allows users to create customized settings for image presentation (by exam type/body part). These systems also incorporate new image processing software.

The MD205MG 5-megapixel flat-panel monitor sports a 2560-by-2048 native resolution and features advanced in-plane switching (IPS) LCD technology, which offers 3,061 shades of gray.

GE Healthcare launched its new mobile Vivid S5 cardiovascular ultrasound system, created for multiple care areas, featuring a full-sized 17-inch LCD monitor, three active transducer connectors and room for on-board peripherals retained in a miniaturized console weighing less than 160 pounds.

The new Automatic Adjustable-Height Swivel WorkStation (CWT-AAHS) combines adjustable height and swivel capability, allowing users to position the height of the work surface according to their needs. The work surface and monitor have a 180-degree swivel range, and gives the option to position the computer screen so both patient and clinician can view information simultaneously.

The eNook Pro is designed to be a secure wall-mounted workspace, and may be used as a point-of-care, hallway station, a notebook desk or a walk-up computer workstation. The desk shelf may be flipped up to close and locked using a programmable numeric combination lock.

The eNook Pro is available in two models: one for LCD mounts and one for laptops. The LCD mount model has a VESA mount rail for the LCD and an integrated keyboard and mouse tray on the main shelf.

The Dual Tier Cart is a selection of customizable electronically height-adjustable carts designed with two independent work surfaces that can be adjusted by height from 28 inches to 47 inches above floor level.

The Flexo Level 3 PACS stations are based on linear and corner designs that support multiple LCD monitors and work to address the needs of radiology departments as they make the transition into digital operation.

The Flexo Level 3 offer a choice of four different widths to suit various layouts and number of monitors, and features a triple-level telescopic frame available with standard fast crank adjustment or optional electric motors with built-in intelligent height memory, capable of instant sit-to-stand adjustment, according to the company.
