June 16, 2008 – GE is showcasing at SNM 2008, its Discovery PET/CT platform, created for advanced clinical applications, featuring sensitivity and VUE Point HD imaging, reportedly with improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for all PET/CT exams.

GE is focusing on MotionFree PET/CT imaging with advanced motion correction techniques offered as part of its Discovery PET/CT platform. With its offerings, clinicians now reportedly have more information and tools to help them diagnose and stage with accuracy, plan with precision and monitor with confidence.

June 16, 2008 - Mindray Medical International Ltd. received FDA 510(k) clearance for its DC-3 color ultrasound system.

The DC-3 color ultrasound imaging system is designed to have extensive applications in abdominal, OB/GYN, endovaginal, cardiac, small parts and pediatric markets. The DC-3 is tailored to expand Mindray's customer base in low-end markets and complements the company’s FDA-approved DC-6 and portable M5 ultrasound imaging systems, which are targeted for middle and high-end markets and previously received FDA 510(k) clearance.

June 16, 2008 - GE Healthcare launched new software packages for its Infinia Hawkeye 4-slice SPECT/CT at SNM 2008.

The new Volumetrix Suite consists of two applications that aim to deliver image clarity and diagnostic confidence with precise detection and localization of disease, the Volumetrix 3D and Volumetrix IR.

Quest International Inc. recently released its QMDL5PCX for patient monitoring and information management created for vital signs monitoring.

The 15-inch, touchscreen optional, patient monitor is reportedly suitable for any patient care environment and is virtually able to universally replace OEM specific displays even when specific, non-VESA timings are required.

Philips has developed a repair and tracking system for mobile diagnostic imaging systems, the Philips Remote Services (PRS) for mobiles, using global positioning system (GPS) location technology, Internet data connectivity and standard voice service to diagnose and potentially repair imaging equipment remotely.

ARUP Laboratories and the University of Utah’s Department of Pathology have released ARUP Consult version 2.3, a free laboratory test selection support tool for PDA devices that includes more than 1,500 lab tests categorized into disease-related topics, including clinical background information, test ordering suggestions and concise diagnostic advice.

The new Philips HD7 ultrasound system draws upon an array of features and capabilities available on high-end company systems and puts them into an affordable, mobile unit designed for a wide variety of clinical settings.
