September 23, 2009 - Siemens announced today the sixth annual “New Point of View” Preclinical Image of the Year awards for cutting-edge images from pioneering preclinical research. Four category winners and four honorable mentions were announced, and the Image of the Year winner will be showcased in the company’s booth #416.  

Today's PACS have a greater need for sophisticated image routing. Traditional image routing strategies such as Source Metadata Routing (SMR/ "store and forward routing"), pioneered over 20 years ago by DeJarnette, only provides the simplest routing capability.

September 23, 2009 - GE Healthcare introduced the new Venue ultrasound product line to the medical market. The Venue 40, the first product launched, provides visualization for needle guidance procedures and rapid diagnostics in real-time at the bedside. These “point of care” settings are the fastest growing in ultrasound around the world.

The growing number of MDCT systems being deployed today causes a significant workflow problem for medical treatment facilities. The mismatch between diagnostic orders entered and CT studies produced causes problems for the reading radiologist, the PACS administrator and the billing department.

September 23, 2009 - Royal Philips Electronics and Celsion Corp. reported on a joint research program to evaluate ThermoDox, Celsion’s heat-activated liposomal drug, in combination with magnetic resonance-guided high intensity focused ultrasound (MR-HIFU) as a combination therapy to non-invasively treat difficult cancers has successfully completed the feasibility stage.

Definiens is debuting its newly launched Version 2 of Definiens LymphExpert, a CAD software application designed to identify, analyze and measure the size of lymph nodes in CT images over time, making it easier to detect the metastatic spread of cancer.

September 23, 2009 - The results of the Phase 0 (exploratory), or “first-in-human,” study indicated that the bio-distribution of the new agent was recorded at safe levels for clinical use in positron emission tomography (PET) studies, according to a presentation at the World Molecular Imaging Conference in Montreal, Canada.
