November 4, 2009 - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the review copy of the 2010 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (HOPPS) final rule on Oct. 30, 2009.

The final rule provides the following, as summarized by the American College of Radiology (ACR):

November 4, 2009 - During the National Radiologic Technology Week, Nov. 8-14, which recognizes and honors the radiologic technology personnel who provide medical imaging and radiation therapy treatments, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has issued recommendations to patients for safer and better X-ray exams.

November 3, 2009 - Candelis Inc. announced it will distribute and sell the ImageGrid PACS-RT Appliance and the ImageGrid RT Viewer through Siemens Healthcare's Oncology Care Systems Business Unit.

November 2, 2009 - Calypso Medical Technologies, Inc. today announced Calypso’s real-time tracking technology is included in 36 scientific presentations and posters at the 51st Annual Meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), now underway at McCormick Place in Chicago.

November 2, 2009 - Hologic Inc. is featuring the MammoSite ML radiation therapy system at ASTRO 2009, and will present data showing treatment with MammoSite ML resulted in acceptable ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence and axillary recurrence rates that are comparable with standard whole breast radiation therapy.

November 2, 2009 – Candelis Inc. announced the introduction and general availability of its ImageGrid PACS-RT appliance, which provides radiation therapy and oncology centers with a cost effective DICOM-RT image management and archiving solution. A fully-integrated 2D/3D RT Viewer enables oncologists to review, approve and sign-off on treatment plans from any workstation.  

November 2, 2009 - PETNET Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Medical Solutions, announced it is a registered supplier of 18F-sodium fluoride  (18F-NaF) and investigational 3’Deoxy-3’[18F] Fluorothymidine (18F-FLT)  to the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) in support of ACRIN’s multi-center clinical trials.
