October 22, 2010 - The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Carestream Health a maximum $10 million contract for PACS systems and related sub-systems and components. October 22, 2010 - Proton beam therapy is safe, effective and may be superior to other conventional treatments for stage I inoperable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, according to a study in the October issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, the official journal of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

UrgentWorks is a phone-, iPad- and browser-supported application for the entry, acknowledgment and management of critical test results. UrgentWorks parses critical findings out of radiologists’ reports, or they can be entered via workstation APIs or directly into the application. The application contacts patient locations and/or physicians via phone, iPad, etc. based on a set of rules. It continues until results have been acknowledged. Its unique FireDrill calls all numbers in the directory to verify them during scheduled drills.

November 30, 2010 – A new application allows radiologists to share images, reports critical results and other information on the iPad. With the WebWorks iPad Viewer application, from Brit Systems, radiologists can connect to the company’s Roentgen Works PACS server to share images.
