February 22, 2011 – Philips and Microsoft will collaborate to streamline the workflow of radiologists as they seek to build and understand the complete clinical context of a patient.

During ASTRO 2010, Nucletron highlighted improvements in its new Oncentra 4.0 treatment planning software and Flexitron afterloader.

The latest version of Oncentra improves external beam therapy planning and has GPU planning to speed dose calculations.

February 22, 2011 – Radiologists who interpret a high volume of mammograms may not detect more cancers but are better at determining which suspicious lesions are not malignant, according to a new study published in Radiology.

RoentgenWorks now supports the Health Information Exchange (HIE) NHIN Gateway for patient and document discovery; document retrieval; and document submission. RoentgenWorks can store DICOM and HL-7 data from many different enterprises and it includes an MPI for acquiring a patient’s data whether it is stored locally or within an HIE. It also produces and acquires CCRs.

February 21, 2011 – TomoTherapy has shipped its 350th treatment system, which will be installed at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital (HKSH). In 2005, HKSH first treatment center in Asia to embrace TomoTherapy technology.

February 21, 2011 – An integrated software suite that facilitates the sharing of diagnostic content will be showcased at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and IHE Interoperability Showcase.

February 21, 2011 – Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg (RAF) has partnered with the Image Gently Campaign to increase awareness of opportunities to lower radiation dose when imaging children. Image Gently is an initiative of the Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging.

February 21, 2011 – A cardiac computed tomography (CT) report engine was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to save physicians' time, to present instant feedback on their interpretation and to vastly reduce time to diagnosis.

The C saves physicians time, presents instant feedback on their interpretation and vastly reduces time to diagnosis.

Computed tomography (CT) offers a very important, noninvasive diagnostic tool, but the price of high image quality sometimes comes with a cost of high radiation dose. This is especially true of CT angiography (CTA), which may require imaging several cardiac cycles.

Featuring intervention-free DICOM compliance, luminance uniformity and ambient light compensation, the Coronis Fusion family now includes the new 10 MP Coronis display, introduced at RSNA 2010. In addition to providing all the features of its predecessors, the 10 MP Coronis display system features new, proprietary “SmoothGray” technology for high-resolution grayscale images.
