Frost & Sullivan has named Siemens Healthcare the "2013 North American Interventional Radiology Company of the Year" for its interventional imaging solutions in cardiology, radiology and hybrid surgery. The Frost & Sullivan study states, "Siemens is extremely well positioned within the interventional cardiology segment, within the overarching surgical clinical segment, as well as neurology, oncology and pediatrics."

Molecular Targeting Technologies Inc. (MTTI) announced Dr. Kai Chen of the University of Southern California was awarded the 2013 Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation (CMIIT) Young Investigator Award during the annual meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) in Vancouver, Canada. Chen presented results from his study entitled: “Synthesis and evaluation of a novel bis (zinc(II)-dipicolyamine) derivative for dual-modality PET/NIRF [positron emission tomography/near-infrared flourescence] imaging of phosphatidylserine exposure.”

August 20, 2013 — Heavy use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be leading to unnecessary breast removal in older women with breast cancer, according to a study by Yale School of Medicine researchers in the current issue of Breast Cancer Research and Treatment.
