January 18, 2023 — The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is hosting a free, one-hour webinar on the significant role of radiology in value-based healthcare (VBH). Led by a panel of experts, the webinar will focus on how to address health disparities and evaluate diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that can transform the future of health care.

Radiology’s Role in Achieving Equity in Value-Based Health Care,” takes place Wednesday, January 25, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. CT. Attendance is open to all, but registration is required.

VBH is designed to improve health outcomes among all patient populations without increasing costs. Radiology has a significant role to play in VBH, including providing appropriate care to achieve patients’ goals and best outcomes, ensuring equitable resource distribution and facilitating connections.

“With the increasing role in value-based care, radiologists are at the nexus of preventative care, healthcare innovation and equitable care delivery,” said course director Efren Flores, M.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital. “Radiologists are uniquely positioned to advance national value-based care goals through an increased focus on equitable care delivery through novel care models that aim to improve health outcomes for all patients among our increasingly diverse populations.”

In this webinar, radiology professionals committed to health equity will clarify radiology’s role in the VBH era, address population health and health disparities and evaluate diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that can transform the future of healthcare.

The course aims to help attendees:

  • Distinguish radiology’s role in achieving equity in value-based healthcare.
  • Analyze the central role radiology plays in population health and addressing disparities.
  • Evaluate diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that can transform value-based healthcare.

Course directors are Dr. Flores and Lucy Spalluto, M.D., M.P.H., of Vanderbilt University. Faculty include James A. Brink, M.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Pamela T. Johnson, M.D., of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

“Dr. Brink and Dr. Johnson are leaders that exemplify radiology’s crucial role in value-based care and care delivery transformation,” Dr. Flores said.

RSNA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

This activity can be applied towards the ABR MOC Part 2 requirement (CME). To earn CME credit, participants must watch the full length of the webinar, as well as complete the course evaluation.

RSNA designates this activity (blended live and enduring material) for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
