Nov. 2, 2026 — Corsmed has launched a free tier of its MRI simulator, making the platform available to any student or MRI professional worldwide with no time limit.
The free tier includes access to two of the most clinically common anatomies – head and knee – alongside eight core pulse sequences: Turbo Spin Echo (TSE), Spin Echo (SE), Gradient Echo (GRE), FLAIR, IR Spin-Echo, IR-TSE, Single-Shot Fast Spin Echo (SS-FSE), and MP-RAGE.
Users access the same simulation engine as the full paid platform, meaning parameter changes produce the correct image effects (including artifacts, contrast, resolution, SNR, scan time, CNR, SAR), exactly as they would on a real scanner.
The move removes a long-standing barrier in MRI education. Clinical scanners run on tight patient schedules, leaving students with limited hands-on practice time. Corsmed's simulator has addressed that gap for institutions since its launch, and the free tier extends that access to individuals regardless of their institution's budget or procurement capacity.
"MRI training has always been held back by one problem: access," said Erik Jacobsson, CEO of Corsmed.
"A student in an under-resourced program, or in a country where MRI equipment is scarce, deserves the same ability to practice as someone at a well-funded hospital. Making the simulator free is the most direct way we can act on that belief. "
MRI Simulator
The simulator is already live across the entire world, used by organisations such as NHS University College London Hospitals (UCLH), British Columbia Institute of Technology, and City St George’s University of London. UCLH has reported that new MRI radiographers now reach clinical competence in 3–4 months rather than 6.
The full paid platform extends access to 60+ anatomies, 30+ pulse sequences, pathology simulation, advanced patient and scanner settings, and LMS integration for multi-student management. The free tier is designed as a genuine starting point, using the same true-to-life simulation engine throughout.
Students and professionals can create a free account and start practicing at corsmed.com/mri-simulator/free.
