Next-generation OIS integrates with RayStation 7 treatment planning system to provide workflow and task management support for multidisciplinary cancer treatment

RaySearch Launches RayCare Oncology Information System

December 22, 2017 — RaySearch announced the first release of RayCare, a new oncology information system (OIS) designed to connect the different oncology disciplines, boosting efficiency and ensuring optimal use of resources.

The first product release, RayCare 1, provides workflow and task management support for the treatment planning process and an integrated planning experience in combination with RayStation 7. Communication around the planning process is consolidated through the messaging and comment system built into task management.

To enable automatic assignment and handover of tasks, RayCare 1 also supports the care team for each patient. The built-in radiation oncology picture archiving and communication system (PACS) is fully integrated with the workflow management system, leveraging automated imaging workflows, and patient demographics can be automatically synchronized with other hospital systems. In addition to the workflow and task management features, RayCare 1 and RayStation 7 combine to provide treatment scheduling, management and delivery support for IBA’s proton systems and Accuray’s TomoTherapy systems.

Over subsequent releases, RayCare will evolve into a machine learning OIS with capabilities to coordinate oncology tasks, supporting comprehensive cancer care organized around each patient’s needs. This goal reflects the fact that many cancer patients receive a combination of treatment types, driving the need for combined workflows for radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery.
