CIRS becomes approved vendor of new ACR mammography quality assurance phantom

CIRS Approved to Produce ACR Digital Mammography Phantom

The ACR has named Computerized Imaging Reference Systems, Inc. (CIRS) an approved vendor for the new ACR Digital Mammography Phantom. This enables CIRS to produce and sell the phantom beginning immediately. CIRS earned this approval by submitting two sample phantoms for testing and evaluation by an independent medical physicist. Both of the sample phantoms met the required specifications, tolerances, and performance requirements set by the ACR.

The ACR Digital Mammography Phantom, CIRS Model 086, can be used for testing and accreditation according to the new ACR Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual, slated for release in late July.

This is the second phantom that CIRS has been approved to manufacture by the ACR. The first was designed by the ACR for accreditation as required by Mammography Quality Standards Act (MSQA) of 1992. The Mammographic Accreditation Phantom, CIRS Model 015 is still available for purchase.
