August 28, 2013 — Injured soldiers returning from combat now have access to more advanced magnetic resonance (MR) technology with Toshiba’s Vantage Titan 3T MR. Winn Army Community Hospital in Fort Stewart, Ga., installed the system for general, musculoskeletal and body imaging. This acquisition marks the 1,600th Vantage MR installed worldwide and the 500th installed in the United States.
Toshiba’s Titan 3T has a 71 cm patient aperture, providing a greater feeling of openness. It is also the quietest 3T MR system available, as Toshiba’s exclusive Pianissimo noise-reduction technology reduces exam noise by up to 33 dB(A). For safer exams, the system incorporates Toshiba’s proprietary non-contrast techniques.
“Recently, we conducted an MR exam with one of our lieutenants, who asked if the system was on because it was so quiet. The noise-reduction technology addresses one of the major compliance issues in MR,” Wilkes added.

Winn Army Hospital also utilizes an Aquilion Premium CT and a Kalare R&F X-ray system from Toshiba.
