October 29, 2010 - At RSNA 2010, Philips will introduce the Panorama HFO Oncology Configuration, which enables MR imaging during radiation treatment. The open scan environment allows for scanning of patients in a treatment position, as well as MR guided biopsy taking, brachytherapy and other minimal invasive procedures.
Additionally, the company will showcase the Achieva 3.0T TX. The scanner is the world’s only truly patient-adaptive 3T with MultiTransmit RF technology. This enables healthcare clinicians to achieve high-quality results across a wide range of applications, including optimizing body and breast imaging. The multi-channel RF transmission technology automatically adjusts its signal to each patient’s unique anatomy. It delivers enhanced image uniformity and consistency, with up to 40 percent faster imaging.
The world’s first Mobile 3.0T MRI system with MultiTransmit, the Achieva 3.0T TX Mobile MRI, will also be on display at RSNA. The mobile system brings advanced MRI diagnostic capabilities to patients who previously may not have had access otherwise. It features the same amenities and staff as an in-house MRI suite, and is housed in a fully transportable in a 48-foot trailer.
The Elite Breast is a complete clinical solution for Philips 1.5T and 3.0T MRI systems. It can reduce total exam time by 10 minutes, which could result in a 30 percent improvement in clinical throughput.
Philips will also show its Sonalleve MR-HIFU (MR guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) fibroid therapy system, which offers a non-invasive treatment for uterine fibroids. It combines the power of two modalities by integrating an advanced high intensity focused ultrasound system into the patient table of the Achieva MR system. It uses focused ultrasound waves to heat and coagulate tissue deep inside the body without damaging intervening tissue, and combines this with advanced planning, guidance and temperature monitoring provided by MR. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, with an almost full recovery within a few days. The Sonalleve MR-HIFU system is currently undergoing clinical trials in the United States.
