October 27, 2009 - At this year’s Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 2009 annual meeting, Toshiba will demonstrate the patient-focused designs of its Vantage Titan and Vantage Atlas MR systems.
Toshiba understands that the MR exam experience can be daunting to patients. Whether they suffer from claustrophobia or are sensitive to the loud noise of the magnet, Toshiba has developed technology to address these concerns. In the process, by making exams more comfortable, efficiency also is improved. Toshiba’s patient-focused MR features include:
• PianissimoTM technology, which reduces noise by up to 90 percent. Increasing exam comfort in this way potentially could help patients stay more relaxed during the exam and keep them from moving, improving efficiency because the exam would not need to be restarted.
• Proprietary contrast-free MRA techniques to safely scan patients with known renal compromise. Not only is this safer for patients, but also reduces set-up time before an exam.
• Toshiba’s Atlas technology integrates the coils into the table, eliminating the need to reposition patients during exams. This feature reduces exam time and is more comfortable for the patient. It also enables feet-first imaging for a majority of exams, allowing patients to keep their head outside the bore.
• The Titan offers a 71-cm aperture and the largest clinical field of view (55×55×50 cm) in the industry. Titan’s ultra short, open bore provides patients with a greater feeling of openness to reduce claustrophobia and improves their overall exam experience.
