November 24, 2008 -- M*Modal recently announced the launch of AnyModal CDS Mobile on the Apple iPhone with real-time Speech Understanding services.

The solution is designed to allow physicians to improve patient care from anywhere at anytime.

While clinical dictation was possible before via telephone or PDA devices, the resulting report was not available for hours. AnyModal CDS Mobile delivers documents in real time to the physician’s iPhone, reportedly making it the first device to capture, understand and transcribe dictation in real time, allowing physicians to immediately review and sign off on a clinical document.

AnyModal CDS (Conversational Documentation Services) is based on a unique combination of proprietary speech recognition and natural language understanding technologies, and turns clinical dictation directly into structured and encoded clinical documents.

The highly configurable, service-oriented architecture (SOA), paired with the platform independent set of thin-client user interface components, enables M*Modal partners to incorporate AnyModal CDS into their workflow solutions.

M*Modal uses the software as a service (SaaS) application delivery model, independently hosting, operating and maintaining its software application in an off-site data center for customer use over the Internet. This structure, says the company, allows for the pervasive use of the highly accurate Speech Understanding service, whether physicians are relying on medical transcriptionists or editing documents themselves. Access is available from any PC connected to the Internet via a secure connection. There is no need for on-site hardware and IT maintenance and support or timely upgrades.
