Quality Control Tool for PACS Enables HIE

May 24, 2011 – Enhancements to a quality control tool for a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) have been released. PACSgear announced a new release of its quality control tool for its PACS/electronic health records (EHR) system. GearView QC 2.0 now includes a comprehensive media import feature that lets hospitals and healthcare facilities securely upload and reconcile medical images and related results. This feature enables facility-to-facility imaging (F2F-I) and complements regional health information exchange (HIE) efforts.

GearView QC 2.0 was originally featured at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2010 in Chicago.

The software automatically sends and alert to the attending physician's smartphone with links to the imaging for a final human assessment to help speed the time to diagnosis and treatment.
