Olympus audio line offers two dictation solutions for healthcare

March 2, 2012 — Olympus presented its Professional Audio line of digital dictation technology at the HIMSS12 Annual Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas, Feb. 20-24.

The Professional Audio family includes the DS series – including the flagship Olympus DS-5000 digital recorder and the Olympus DS-3400 digital recorder which feature USB mass storage class, a large LCD screen, file encryption and decryption, as well as removable SD memory and computer link capabilities.

The newest products – the Directrec 1200, 2200 and 2300 – provide users with expanded technology. Features include a strategically placed slide switch (DR-2200 and DR-2300) and push-button (DR-1200) for one-handed navigation and access to commonly-used functions; a high-sensitivity microphone that blocks unwanted background noises; and a trackball that functions as a computer mouse to facilitate manipulation of data. The DR-2300 also includes a barcode scanner attachment, which enables automatic transmission of voice files to electronic health records and allows for additional security of sensitive information. In addition, the Olympus AS-5000 Transcription Kit comes with a foot switch, headset and software.

“As a major dictation technology provider, Olympus recognizes how critical information security and efficiency are to the healthcare industry,” said Amy Leslie, senior marketing and business development manager at Olympus Imaging America Inc. “Olympus’ two digital dictation solution options are ideal to meet the demands of any healthcare setting where effective information management is a priority.”
