May 11, 2007 - Sonitor Technologies, a developer of indoor positioning systems, and Patient Care Technology Systems, a provider of workflow automation solutions, announced an alliance to jointly market their workflow technologies for hospitals and medical facilities.

Hospitals are increasingly exploring the use of tracking and workflow technologies to increase efficiency and improve patient care and safety. While RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Detection) has received much of the attention to date, ultrasound IPS provides similar benefits with added advantages – including virtually fail-proof room identification and accuracy without the risk of interference with or from electronic equipment or metallic objects, which is important in hospital settings.

Under the alliance, Sonitor’s technology, including the ultrasound “Tags” and Detectors, will be integrated with Patient Care Technology Systems software to provide a turnkey workflow automation option for healthcare providers. The integrated system will provide real-time identification and the reliably accurate location of resources in areas such as emergency rooms, surgery and outpatient services departments.
